Sugar substitutes are harmless. But it doesn't help lose weight - maintain health.

On May 16, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a new recommendation on the use of artificial sweeteners, discouraging people from using them for weight control. Or to reduce the risk of non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs) such as obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer caused by lifestyle habits.
The reason why the World Health Organization made such recommendations This is based on recent research showing that sugar substitutes have no long-term benefits for weight loss or lowering blood sugar levels. People who consume sugar substitutes are therefore still at risk of developing NCDs as those who consume sweeteners from real sugar.
