Recommend to Me Your Favorite Dishwasher - and Why

My low end Whirlpool D/W has died.

This was something I bought low-end when I built this house, because one can always do this task by hand (as opposed to chlling or freezing foods by hand in one's fridge....)

I am most interested in a budget model combined with reputable longevity. Function over form... although I do prefer black appliances in my kitchen.
